2009 Junior News

September/October 2009
At the Fife County Junior Girls championship Lauren Whyte won the Patrick Trophy (scratch prize) and Rebecca Todd won the Junior Cup (handicap prize).
Lauren Whyte, Camilla Tait and Rachel Hanlon have taken part in the St Andrews Junior Girls Open. Rachel Hanlon progressed to the match play stage where she just missed out on being the winner.
Sophie Maguire will be competing in the final of the Wee Wonders competition and Alexandra Tait has been selected by Fife County to attend a Talent Day by SLGA.
Winter coaching for the junior members has been arranged with Mr Gary Forrester.
Also we are organising a Juniors Evening on 31st January 2010 at 7 pm, this is an information evening and will give you a chance of a get together.

July/August 2009
Junior Senior Match - 18th August: 1st C Scott and S Dunne, 2nd E Baird and K Caithness.
Well done to Rachel Hanlon for her recent good results in the Under 18 and Under 21 Scottish events. Also good luck to Alexandra Tait and Lauren Whyte who have qualified for final of the Junior Masters to be played at Gleneagles in October.
If you would like to get involved in the Junior/Senior event being played on Tuesday 18 August then please see the entry sheet on the notice board.

June/July 2009
Two of our juniors were playing in the winning team for East of Scotland this month at Balumbie Castle. East Division won for the second year in a row and our juniors involved were Camilla Tait and Rachel Hanlon. This is the last year for Camilla as she turned 18 on the 11th of June. Congratulations to Rebecca Todd for winning the “Grant Trophy”, she is also the lead on the Birdie Tree with 7 birdies.

May/June 2009
Morag McNamara has volunteered to help Claire Whyte with the Junior Section. Our thanks go to Morag. Two teams of girls have been entered into the Rotary Foursomes and the first round will be played on the Eden Course on 16 June 2009. This is a big event for the girls and they will be representing the club in their new uniforms. It would add to the occasion if some of us were able to be there to see the girls off. If you would like to support the girls, the tee times start at 4.20pm.

April/May 2009
Successes We are having success both within their club competitions and elsewhere. Congratulations to Rebecca Todd, one of our newest junior members, on winning the Grant Trophy. Some of the other notable achievements are that Rachel Hanlon and Lauren Whyte were selected to play for Fife County in the Cuthbertson Cup. Fife was unfortunately beaten in the final by a very strong Midlothian team. Also Rachel Hanlon and Camilla Tait have been selected to play for the East in the East of Scotland versus West of Scotland match in June. We wish them well for that.

March 2009
BIG CONGRATULATIONS Well done to one of our very talented junior members, Rachel Hanlon. For winning the Fife Council Stableford Competition. She is a credit to the club. “Keep up the good work Rachel”

Rules Talk Lynne Terry of the SLGA talked to the juniors about the Rules of Golf on Friday evening, 6th February. The talk was very interesting and informative. Afterwards the juniors watched a video and had pizza. The photos show the junior captain presenting Lynne with a bottle of wine and a group of juniors in the Clubroom.
