Santa Drive Many thanks to everyone who took the time to come along and join in the fun for the Santa Drive on December 12th. A most enjoyable evening was had by all.
LGU Diaries and Wee Yellow Book The LGU Diaries have now been delivered to the Club. If you ordered a diary, please collect it from Susan in the office (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9am to 12 noon). Wee Yellow Books have been ordered -if you requested a copy, Susan will be in touch in January to let you know when the books are available. £3.50 is payable upon collection.
Trophies for Collection There are a number of trophies being held in the Club office that have yet to be collected by prizewinners. If you were unable to attend the Annual Dinner but still have a trophy to collect, please contact Susan as soon as possible to arrange for uplift.
Drivers and Putters Does your driver and putter comply with the new Royal and Ancient regulations, which come into effect on January 1st, 2008? If you are unsure, please check on the R. and A. website at www.randa.org, or ask Susan in the office (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9am and 12 noon) to check the website for you. It is every golfer’s responsibility to ensure that they are using clubs that comply with regulations.
Local Golfers ­ Options for Play This information is held on the administrative notice board in the Clubrooms, and includes details of booking requirements and preferential times available to Links Ticket holders for the Castle Course. It is worth noting that in 2008, there are five Sundays which have been preferentially allocated to local golfers on the Castle Course, namely July 27th, August 24th, September 14th and 28th, and October 19th.
200 Club Any member who wishes to join the St Regulus 200 Club is welcome to do so at any time throughout the year. Cost is just £1 per month per number, and in addition to the normal monthly prizes there are bonus prizes in June and November to coincide with the Club Championship and the Annual Prizegiving Dinner. Odds of winning are far better than the lottery! Please contact Fiona McEwan if you wish to join.
Fees Reminder Subscription Fees for 2008 are now due, and should be paid to Club Treasurer Fiona McEwan no later than March 31st . Fees for this year are £105 for Golfing Members, £75 for Putters, and £38 for Juniors. Please also indicate whether you wish to continue to use your Car Park Swipe Card ­ if payment of £5 is not received with your annual subscription, your swipe card will be cancelled immediately as there is now a waiting list.
Toast to the Club The Toast to the Club will take place at 2.30pm on Saturday, January 5th, 2008. Please bring along a wrapped gift to the value of £5 and join us in wishing the Club success for the forthcoming year.

Annual Dinner and Prizegiving The Annual Dinner and Prize-giving was another great success. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all who helped make it a wonderful evening.
AGM The AGM will be held on the evening of Thursday 6th December at 7.30pm. (If voting is required, the starting time will be 7pm). Any member wishing to submit a motion for consideration at the AGM, or to nominate a member for committee, should put this in writing to Lorna Graham, Honorary Secretary, no later than Wednesday, 28th November, 2007. If you cannot attend, please also pass your apologies to Lorna.
LGU Diary and Wee Yellow Book If you wish to place an order for either the 2008 LGU Diary or Wee Yellow Book, please add your name to the lists on the Club Notice-board as soon as possible. Orders will be submitted for these in December.
Santa Drive This year's Santa Drive will be held on Wednesday 12th December at 7.30pm. Tea and coffee, shortbread and mince pies will be served, and the cost is £3. Donations of raffle prizes for this evening would be very gratefully received. Look out your Santa Hats and put this date in your diary!
Glenmuir Clothing The latest order of clothing from Glenmuir has been delivered to the Club, and will be available for collection from Monday, November 19th. Susan will be in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 12 noon ­ if you would like to organise collection outwith these times, please call the office on 01334 477797 or email admin@st-regulus-lgc.co.uk Any outstanding payment should be made upon collection.

SLGA Graduate Squad for Winter Training Fiona Lockhart and Elaine Moffat are both included in the 6 strong SLGA Graduate Squad this winter.
Annual Dinner and Prizegiving Members who will be attending the Annual Dinner and Prizegiving at the Links Clubhouse on Friday, November 2nd, are asked to ensure that they indicate their menu choices as soon as possible.
£26.50 as payment for the dinner should be paid to Fiona McEwan, Treasurer, no later than October 26th.
Prizewinners and committee are reminded that they should arrive at the Links Clubhouse at 6.30pm to allow for photographs to be taken prior to the dinner.
Glenmuir The Club now has eight separate orders for Glenmuir clothing, and an order will be placed within the next couple of weeks.
A new Autumn/Winter catalogue can be found on the noticeboard – if you have already ordered from the Spring/Summer catalogue, and would like to change this to something from the new range, please let Susan in the office know as soon as possible.
Members who handed in vouchers from the Women’s British Open and/or the Dunhill Cup may also wish to use these now to place an order for clothing – again, please let Susan know so that your order can be included.
Leave from Club Susan will be on leave from the Club from Monday, October 29th to Friday, November 2nd inclusive.

SOS! ­ St Regulus Versus St Rule Club Match on Monday, September 17th Bronze and Silver players are urgently required for this match. Times are 09.28 ­ 09.44on the Eden Course (Silver) and 10.16 ­ 10.32 on the Strathtyrum Course (Bronze). Catering will be provided by the St Rule Club afterwards. Please contact me as soon as possible on 01334 474520 if you can take part.
Club Door Entry System There have been a few changes to the door entry system following some members experiencing problems gaining access to the building. When a key fob is held against the sensor at any of the three doors, the small red light will change to green momentarily to indicate the door is unlocked, accompanied by a bleep. Members are advised that on occasion, it may be necessary to pull the doors towards them before using the key fob. This ensures the lock is fully engaged before entry will be granted. Please report any problems with key fobs to Susan in the office.
Annual Dinner and Prizegiving The Annual Dinner and Prizegiving will be held in the Links Clubhouse on Friday, November 2nd. A sample menu is now up on the noticeboard. Cost for the meal is £26.50 (inclusive of three courses and coffee, plus one glass of wine or a soft drink), and this should be paid to Fiona McEwan, Treasurer, no later than October 26th. Please indicate your choice from the menu when adding your name to the table plan on the noticeboard.
Glenmuir A new Autumn/Winter catalogue can be found on the noticeboard. Eight separate items are required before the Club can place an order – if you have already ordered from the Spring/Summer catalogue, and would like to change this to something from the new range, please let Susan in the office know. Members who handed in vouchers from the Women’s British Open may also wish to use these now to place an order for clothing – again, please let Susan know as soon as possible so that an order can be submitted to Glenmuir in the near future.

Krystle leaves for America. Krystle has now left for Georgia (USA) on a golf scholarship. At a reception in the Club on 11th August, Club members, Fife County members and her family gathered to wish her all the best for her future success.

Krystle was presented with a silver charm bracelet and Life Membership of St Regulus. She was also made a Life Member of Fife County Ladies' Golf Association,

Congratulations to Krystle and Elaine. Krystle Caithness was part of the Scottish Team who successfully defended the Girls Home Internationals at Southerndown Golf Club, South Wales. The winning team was captained by Elaine Moffat.

RICOH Women’s British Open ChampionshipThis Championship will be held from 2nd ­ 5th August and our clubhouse will be open to LGU officials and referees during this time. If you are not involved with scoring or marshalling, and can spare a few hours to help with the serving of refreshments, or for supplying baking items, please either contact the Captain or Vice-Captain, or add your name to the list on the notice board at the bottom of the stairs.
Susan On Holiday Please note that Susan Blake, Club Administrator, will be on holiday during the week commencing July 30th until August 6th.
Computer Problems The Club is fortunately back online after a lengthy period of disconnection from the Internet. Many thanks to Ann Morrison, John Diggle and Randall Morrison for the considerable time and effort put into investigating and resolving the technical problems.
Playaway Match ­ Strathmore Golf Centre There are just two places left for this outing on Sunday, August 19th, 2007. Cost will be £49.50 inclusive of bus, coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, a round of golf and a two-course dinner afterwards
Glenmuir The Club will shortly be in a position to place another order for clothing with Glenmuir. If you would like to place an order, please take a look through the catalogue on the notice board and pass completed order forms to Susan in the office as soon as possible.
CateringThere will be NO catering in the Clubhouse on Saturday, July 30th and Saturday, August 11th, due to Cherie Caithness being on holiday.

Vagliano Trophy Krystle Caithness has been picked to play in the Great Britain & Ireland Team for the Vagliano Trophy match against Continent of Europe on the Torrance Course, Fairmont St Andrews, July 27 and 28 2007. For further details go to the LGU site here.
Club and Bronze Championships There will be a reception in the Clubhouse on Friday 29 June after the finals of the Club and Bronze Championships and the Jubilee Cup. Please feel free to walk round with any of the matches and join us in the Clubhouse afterwards for a glass of wine.

RICOH Women's British Open Championship The championship will be held from 2-5 August. Our Club will be open to LGU officials and referees. If anyone can spare a few hours to help with serving refreshments, please either contact the Captain or Vice-Captain, or add your name to the list on the noticeboard at the bottom of the stairs.

The Executive Council of the LGU would like to offer our members an exclusive opportunity to purchase up to four tickets for this event at 40% off the normal ticket price. These discounted tickets will only be available for purchase between 11-22 June and should be purchesed online at www.lgu.org using the special discount code LGU40.

Flood Heavy rain on Thursday 7th June has resulted in the Clubrooms becoming flooded in the area around the noticeboards and downstairs front entrance. Steps have been taken to deal with this matter and equipment to dry out the carpets is now in place. Please take extra care whilst in the clubrooms. Members are requested not to use the downstairs front door (except in the event of fire).
Computer Problems The Club is currently experiencing some problems with the office computer and at present we are unable to go online. Unfortunately this means that the drawsheets cannot be sent out and Susan is unable to send or receive email. Your patience while we work to rectify this is greatly appreciated.

Clubhouse Spring Clean Many thanks to Irene Ray and Mary Clark, who came along once again to help give the downstairs of the Clubrooms a thorough cleaning.

Herkless Cup The annual foursomes competition for members of The St Rule Club and St Regulus was narrowly won by St Regulus couple Mary Clark and Muriel Gray. Result - click here.
Putters/Golfers Competitions I would like to draw your attention to two Putters/Golfers competitions commencing in May - a Matchplay which runs throughout the summer (May to September), and a Two Round Strokeplay which is played on the morning of Friday, May 25th at 9.45am, and Friday, June 1st, at 9.45am. Entry sheets for these are up on the Golfer’s board, and the closing date for entry is Monday, May 21st.

Computer Problems There have been some problems with the office computer, and we have been unable to publish any information to the Howdidido website. All results and handicap changes are displayed on the Club notice boards, and normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Mixed Foursomes The Mixed Foursomes will take place on Sunday, May 20th. There will be a buffet meal in the New Club after the game, costing £8.95 per person. If you intend to eat, please indicate this on the entry sheet to give an indication of numbers. The cost of entering the mixed foursomes is £2 per couple.
Club and Bronze Championships The entry sheets for the above competitions are now on the board. Please sign the entry sheet to confirm that you are available for the Matchplay rounds. If you sign the sheet and later decide that you cannot play, please contact the Captain or Vice Captain immediately.

Golf Fitness Talk – April 18th Liz Forrester of Coreflex has kindly agreed to come along to the Club on Wednesday, April 18th to give a talk and demonstration on golf fitness and warm-up exercises. This will be held in the Clubrooms at 7.30pm – please come along and support this. Glass of wine/juice, or tea and coffee will be available. Contribution of £1 towards refreshments would be appreciated.
Glenmuir Evening – March 21st 2007 The Glenmuir Fashion Evening was held in the Clubrooms on Wednesday, March 21st, and was very well attended. Thank you to all the models, and to all who helped on the evening. Orders taken have now been processed and Susan will be in touch when the clothing is delivered.
Cleaner Required The Club is looking for a new cleaner for two hours twice weekly. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please contact Carole Nye, Captain, or Susan in the office.
Clubhouse Spring Clean We are looking for volunteers to help with the Spring cleaning. If you have a couple of hours to spare one day, please contact Carole Nye on 474520.

Annual Dinner and Prizegiving 2007 This year’s Annual Dinner and Prizegiving will be held on Friday, November 2nd (Venue to be confirmed). Please enter this date in your diary!
House Committee Irene Morrison is our new House Convener, and she will be assisted by Mary Clark and Helen Baird. If you have any concerns regarding the upkeep of the Clubhouse, please contact Irene, who will co-ordinate any necessary repairs.
Amendments to Fixture Card The date for the Ladybank Match has been changed to September 16th, and the Leven Match has been cancelled for this year.
St Andrews Ladies’ Open This will be held on Saturday, July 14th, 2007. The competition format is a Medal stroke-play round (counting for handicap) and the cost is £12. Details are held on the St Regulus website, and entry sheets can be downloaded or collected from the Clubhouse.
Kingsbarns Outing/St Andrews Inter-Club Tournament Both of the above competitions will take place on Sunday, April 8th, 2007. If you wish to represent St Regulus in the Inter-Club Tournament instead of playing at Kingsbarns, please add your name to the list on the Club Noticeboard, or contact Susan in the office on 01334 477797 (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9am to 12 noon) or at admin@st-regulus-lgc.co.uk
Captain Vs Vice-Captain’s Match The Captain Vs Vice-Captain’s Match will be played on Saturday, March 24th. There will be a tea in the Clubhouse at 4pm ­ cost is £2.

The Women's British Open (2nd - 5th August 2007) will be the first championship for women professionals to be played on the Old Course, St Andrews. Volunteer Marshal and Scoreboard Carriers are required.
Volunteer Marshals will assist with the control of spectators on a particular hole, working a shift of approx. five hours. You will be required to attend a training session prior to the Championship, and must be available to work a minimum of four days, one of which should be a practice day. Scoreboard carriers must be available to work a minimum of three championship days.

Glenmuir Evening – March 21st 2007
Arrangements have been made for another Glenmuir Fashion Evening, to be held in the Clubrooms on Wednesday, March 21st, at 7pm. Cost is £3, which will include wine and nibbles. This is an excellent opportunity for members to view items from Glenmuir’s Spring/Summer catalogue, and to check sizes etc. If you are able to come along, please add your name to the list on the Club notice board.
Models in sizes 10, 12, 14 and 16 are also required to display the clothing. If you are able to help, please contact Susan in the office on 01334 477797, or by email..
Saturday Competitions
Cherie Caithness will be taking over the catering at the Club following competitions played on Saturdays.
Social Convener

Kingsbarns Quaich 2007
The Entry Sheet for this popular outing to Kingsbarns Golf Course is now on the Club notice board. The competition, to be played on Sunday, April 8th, from 10am to 1.20pm, has limited places - the first 84 names on the list will be successful, then a reserve list will be taken. Please note that all players must have a valid handicap to secure a place in this competition. Away players may be asked to provide an up-to-date handicap certificate. The Green Fee of £7 is payable to the Treasurer by Sunday 1st April 2007. If green fees are not paid on time, your name may be removed from the list.
Matchplay Entry Sheets
Entry sheets for the Palouzie, Rosebowl and Ardtornish are on the notice board. Please note, the closing date for the Palouzie is Monday, March 5th, 2007.
Handicap Lapse
At the end of January 2008, it will no longer be possible to carry forward one or two rounds of the three required to prevent a handicap lapsing. If you do not play three qualifying rounds before January 31st, 2008, your handicap will lapse and three new cards will be required.

SLGA winter training : Fiona Lockhart and Krystle Caithness are once again part of the SLGA winter training squads. Fiona plays off 0 (-0.3) and was +1 for a time during the summer, and Krystle off +2 (-2.4) which is 0.1 above her lowest exact.

Daily Mail Foursomes: Lynne Tait and Sheena Willoughby beat St Michaels, Crail, Drumoig. Lundin Ladies and Alyth before losing a closely fought match at Gullane. This equals the 6 rounds our pair played in this competition last year.

Ladies Opens : Joyce Flannigan, Janice Pirie, Jean Allan, Susan Suttie and Barbara Ritchie all featured in the prize lists of various opens..
St Andrews Jubilee Open : Sheena Willoughby won the Jubilee Trophy, Elaine Moffat won the Christie Jessiman Trophy for the best scratch score, and Elaine, Maggi Seymour, Caroline Moore and Jean Allan all won prizes in their respective handicap sections.
Fife County : Ann Moffat was second in the Millenium Salver and with her partner LynneTait won the Autum Meeting Foursomes.
Elaine Moffat: is Fife County Ladies Champion for 2006, the Scottish Champion of Champions and the Scottish Ladies Foursomes Champion.

Representing St Regulus : Elaine and Fiona along with Krystle Caithness were all members of the Fife Team who won the East Division County Championship and went on to win the overall Scottish County Championship. It is a great honour for St Regulus to be Home Club for 3 out of the 8 members of the team. All three ladies are in the Fife County winter training squad.

Scratch Fives Team

Scratch Fives win 3 in a row! St Regulus have won the Dunlop Quaich - the Fife Scratch Fives competition - for the 3rd year running. St Regulus have won 4 out of the last 5 years. Organised as usual by team manager Dorothy Scott the team members were: Fiona Lockhart, Elaine Moffat, Dorothy Johnston, Alison McDonald, Frances Robertson, Ann Moffat and Lynne Tait. WELL DONE!
